Premium White Elastomeric Roof Coating
|
|
DESCRIPTION:
Kool Roof
Bright White Elastomeric Coating is a premium grade, water-based,
acrylic elastomeric, “rubber-like” roof coating. Kool Roof is non-toxic,
non-hazardous, non-flmmable. When properly applied clean, dry, mechanically
sound roof Kool Roof will provide years of water-tight protection.
Kool Roof is easily applied with brush, roller or airless spray
equipment; it provides a highly protective barrier which will reflect
the damaging heat and destructive UV rays from the sun. High solar
reflectance can have a significant effect on reducing roof temperatures,
which can lead to a reduction of interior temperatures.
|
|
SURFACE PREPARATION:
All unnecessary and non-functional equipment must be removed from
the roof. The substrate must be pressure washed prior to the application
of Kool Roof.
A minimum working pressure of 1,500 psi should be used to remove
all dirt, dust and previous paints & coatings, which are delaminating.
Thoroughly rinse roof surface after cleaning. TSP (trisodium phosphate),
or appropriate cleaner, can be used along with a deck brush to clean
the roof, after which the roof must be thoroughly rinsed with clean
water. If the roof has an excess amount of oil or grease, a degreaser
may be required and scrubbing with a deck brush may be needed. Rusted
metal roofs must be wire brushed and primed with a metal primer/
sealer before Kool
Roof is applied.
|
|
APPLICATION:
First, make sure all repaired areas are sufficiently sealed and
dry and that the primer has been applied evenly. Any deficiencies
in the roof system must be corrected before proceeding. Choose the
morning of a warm day to apply the Kool Roof. Apply with a 3/4"
long nap exterior roller or medium bristle latex paint brush. Coating
is to be applied in two coats. Ideally, second coat should be applied
perpendicular to the first coat. Allow twenty-four hours between
coats. Humidity and temperature will vary dry time. On a cool humid
day, the dry time will be longer. Care should be used not to over
roll or brush coating on to roof surface. DO NOT apply to surfaces
with less than 1/2 inch per foot slope. DO NOT apply in a ponding
water area. DO NOT apply to any areas where ponding water exists.
This product can also be applied with airless spray equipment, 3,000
psi, 2 gpm with a .631 tip.
NOTE: If the roof becomes too hot (over 95F/ 35C) during application,
it is recommended to delay further application until the next morning
when surface temperatures are cooler. Excessive roof temperatures
may cause blistering of the coating.
